All education sessions at COLLABORATE 08 will fall within one or more of the following educational tracks, which are designed to organize our offerings to help you quickly find the sessions most suited to your interests. Remember that COLLABORATE 08 attendees can attend sessions presented by any of the three participating users groups, with only a few exceptions noted in the onsite guide.
Architecture (ARC)
As a technology professional, you have the ability to guide a company’s direction. Part of your evolving responsibilities includes implementing “best practices,” understanding viable future technologies. Your knowledge will help lead discussions to apply technology to the changing needs of the business. This track will cover the information you need to participate in your company’s architecture and infrastructure decisions surrounding the database environment. Topics will focus on an enterprise scope when dealing with networks, hardware, backup strategies, disaster recovery, data management and technology trends.
Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM)
Organizations are realizing significant cost savings and improved planning capabilities through integration of the entire asset lifecycle. From capital planning and budgeting, to procurement and operations, to maintenance and repair ALM can maximize profitability and return on investment across the entire asset lifecycle
Business Intelligence / Warehousing (BI/DW)
Business Intelligence, knowledge management, data mining, analytics.... What does it all mean? What does it have to do with my data warehouse and databases? Today you have to do more than tune your data warehouse. You have to start at the beginning with the design and work through to the deployment, then keep it tuned for peak performance. Plus you need to make the most of that stored data by analyzing it and using it to give your company a competitive advantage. Business Intelligence has moved beyond the data warehouse to access other data sources; learn how BI is helping companies make the right decisions. This track examines the growth of business intelligence and the partnership with data warehousing to make the most of your key data sources.
Customer Relationship (CRM)
The customer is always right, so you need to be right about your customers. Creating profitable, loyal customers is the ultimate goad of customer relationship (CR) – customers who will continue to buy from you when a competitive alternative exists. Learn how to achieve that loyalty.
Database (DB)
The Oracle relational database continues to evolve to include more new features and as a result has become ever more complicated. On top of all of the daily challenges of maintaining a high performance database, now you have to be sure the data are available 24x7 and compatible with other systems. This track is designed to provide DBAs of every experience level and industry with the tools to productively and creatively administer your data.
Development (DEV)
Working in application development means you need to know an alphabet soup of languages and need to be able to perform a balancing act between the middle-tier and client-based applications. What will give you the edge to create successful applications? Do you use Oracle’s suite of tools, something open source, or do you need to look for something that you can integrate? Most importantly, how will your applications be used – thin or thick client, internet or intranet, wireless, or portal? This track will help guide your development to create an application that stands the test of time or at least the next trendy buzz-word programming style.
Financial (FIN)
Financial provides the regimen needed to maintain the health and well being of the organization. This track will cover the systems and processes that enable efficient operations and support strong internal financial controls
Human Capital (HC)
In the face of brutal competition, leaders must drive superior levels of efficiency and performance throughout their operations. This track will discuss how Human Capital can be employed to create a direct line of sight between key objectives and workforce performance, improving operating and financial results.
